About Kirbie

Kirbie Johnson is an on-camera host, podcaster, producer and journalist. Starting her career at millennial women’s publisher POPSUGAR, she helmed several shows for the media company.

Kirbie is obsessed with all things beauty, Hollywood and internet culture. She grew up the daughter of a cosmotologist, hoarding copies of Allure like gold. She often wrote stories about moving to Los Angeles (“Hollywood”) in elementary school and her work as a digital content creator keeps her up-to-date latest internet trends.

Kirbie likes to mix her editorial expertise with the delivery of a spunky confidant. Her passion for celebrity culture has helped inform some of her best interviews, with celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Viola Davis, Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and Gwyneth Paltrow; she has seen Britney Spears in concert more than should be acceptable for a grown woman. Her favorite social platform is Twitter — it’s where she gets most of her news, and many-a-tweet has inspired her videos and written work. TikTok is a close second.

She left her post at POPSUGAR in July of 2019 after 8 long years, started a podcast and wrote a scripted series, as one does in the City of Angels. Gloss Angeles is a beauty podcast with a west coast point of view; she and co-host Sara Tan break down the bullsh*t in the industry while edu-taining their listeners on how ingredients actually work, what claims are simply marketing terms, and what upcoming brands they should invest their time and money in. Just over a year old, their guest list has included Selena Gomez, Laverne Cox and Barbie Ferreira in addition to industry experts.

During her tenure at POPSUGAR, Kirbie gained first-name basis with many of Hollywood’s elite hair and makeup artists, like Jen Atkin, Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury and Anh Co Tran, as well as some of the biggest influencers in the world like Patrick Starrr, Kandee Johnson and Huda Kattan. She has filmed over 500 segments, more than other editor, influencer or reporter in the beauty field.

Kirbie has been featured as a host on Freeform and an expert/personality on The Today Show, the BBC and The Doctors. She has spoken at national events like South by Southwest, moderated panels and events like VidCon, Create & Cultivate, DragCon, VidCon, Phame Expo, Ulta Beauty’s General Managers’ Conference and The Freeform Summit. She urrently contributes to Allure, Elle, Glamour, The Hollywood Reporter, Byrdie and InStyle.

She has a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations from the Schieffer School of Journalism at Texas Christian University, and spent her time working at salons and spas before moving to Los Angeles. Prior to POPSUGAR, she worked in entertainment PR at Rogers & Cowan, working red carpets like The GRAMMY Awards, Clive Davis’s GRAMMY Party and Elton John’s Oscar Party. She loves Britney Spears, her puppy Quinn, Disneyland, and Halloween, and is currently writing several scripts based on her experience in the beauty industry.
